Wedding Invitation: Pool blue, Chocolate & Cream

This wedding invitation is a simple design for an intimate affair. A brocade design creates a border across the top and bottom of the invitation in chocolate brown and cream.

What's great about this invitation is that the background can be switched from pool blue to any color you'd like - It would be beautiful in light pink for a baby shower or a lemon yellow.

Co-Ed Wedding Shower: Vintage BBQ

Mae Beth & Allen's shower was this past weekend at Jim & Nick's in Birmingham. The 5 Points location has a great room for parties - also great for rehearsal dinners. I kept it simple using centerpieces down each long table.

Using chalkboard paint, after scraping the labels off about 15 wine bottles (!), the bottles got a nice matte black coat of paint. I then applied cut out letters that included conversation starters for the tables. This one says Superior Grill, the couples favorite, low-key, restaurant. Also used were childhood nicknames, first pet names, where he proposed, first date location, etc.

I loved these little $1 frames from Michael's, customized with a little note "Love is sweet like BBQ". Everything sat on a 12" square piece of burlap.

These galvanized pails are from IKEA. $.79 each. Customized labels matched the invitations. The flowers were from Import Flowers off Murphy Rd in Nashville. If you haven't been there, you have to go for your next event.

I also made gourmet s'mores for dessert! YUM. I'll share the recipe later this week.

Everyone had a blast. An easy, no set up, no cooking, no clean up shower is always the best. And the couple got some LOOT - I mean the gifts were insanely good, plus the bride has impeccable taste. I'm so looking forward to their wedding in October.

Vintage Wedding Shower Invitation

This vintage wedding shower invitation is for a very dear friend of mine! It was so easy to capture her style for this upcoming shower.

It's a 9x4" invitation with lots of information on it! It's a couples shower where we are going to stock their bar and their house. The guys are supposed to bring something to stock their bar and the girls are supposed to bring something to stock their house. Should be an interesting party!

We also did a label wrap on these beautiful smokey gray No. 10 envelopes.

Looking forward to posting the vintage-casual party details soon!

Inspiration Shoot: Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo is just 1 week away! Next Thursday, Mexican's and American's alike will mix margarita's and eat south of the border fare to celebrate Mexico's heritage. Here is some bright, non-traditional inspiration for your Cinco de Mayo party. See something you like? Check out my Etsy store to purchase your Cinco de Mayo party invites or menus!

Loving the yellow, lime green, hot pink and purple pops of color. So cheery and bright!

food labels, water bottle labels, fiesta banner and ticker tape garland

This ticker tape garland is SO easy to make. I cut 1" stripes of 12x12 scrapbook paper in half. Stacked them up next to the sewing machine and just sewed right through them.

A special mention to Nashville Wedding Photographer, Angela Disrud for taking these pictures. She is wonderful - check her out!

Sneak Peak: Surprise Baby Shower Invitation

Sneaky shower hosts, hosting a surprise of their own! This couple doesn't know the sex of the baby AND they don't know they are going to attend their shower, given by friends. I love the spontaneity of this group and how they are turning the tables!

Events: Sailor Baby Shower.

One of my very best friends is having her first child! She is the first really close friend of mine who is pregnant. Don't get me wrong...we've had our fair share of baby showers lately. But this...is my best friend. And, she has asked me and my hubby to be Godparents. We are so honored! And scared that we won't live up to that title. But, we are going to do our best! And I started with her baby shower.

You may remember these theme-appropriate invitations designed by yours truly A Little Something Detailed. I went a little over board. (Wow...pardon the pun. Honest accident!) It is rare that someone would use such a fancy invitation for a baby shower. But, think of these as a wedding invitation. The red ribbon is chocolate brown with your monogram in the middle and the layers of the invitation are a dark metallic chocolate, icy blue and shimmery crystal white. There...a beautiful invitation for a more formal occasion.

Baby Ridge's nursery is sailing themed, so we took that and ran with it. Upon arriving guests, were allowed to guess Whitney's circumference, were handed 3 clothes pins (we couldn't say "baby" or someone could take your clothes pin) and were asked to fill out a mad lib about the big event, which we made Whitney read aloud before open her gifts.

The paper details were, of course, the best place to pull in the theme. We used a personalized party banner on the mantel with balloons and picture frames adorned with a smaller sailing flag party banner.

All around the absolutely beautiful and huge home of the future grandmother, were photos of Whit throughout here pregnancy and decor to set the theme. Diaper cakes are making a huge come back and was one of the center pieces of the decor, pulling double duty when they run out of diapers at midnight one day. :)

Race Car Baby Shower.

Remember these cute little baby shower invitations?

The shower was Memorial Day weekend in Indianapolis. Also, Indy 500 weekend. Indianapolis has a great little historic area called Broadripple. It's hip. It's fun. It's young. Our friends Brooke and JD hosted at their humble abode...which they completely restored and have made a wonderful home for themselves and little one, Jackson.

Brooke surprised everyone with the cutest baby shower cake I have ever seen......this was $60. Really? You can't get a sheet cake from Wal-Mart for that little.

A few shots of the spread...

Here's a little tip for party planning outdoors... use double-sided tape along the edge of your tables to keep table clothes from flying away.
We played awesome games too - bottle chugging. A lot harder than it looks. Just 2 oz. took 3 minutes or so.

And a relay race. For this one, we filled up water balloons and had the guys walk down to a table where their relay partner/wife/girlfriend waited for them to get there without popping the balloon.

Once at the table, the ladies had to feed the baby, change the baby, diaper the baby and put it in a stroller for the guys to run back across the finish line.

Above: Ricka explaining what things are to Justin - classic. These were little teepees - used for boys when changing so you don't get a little surprise.

We had a blast showering Justin and Ricka with gifts and fun. They will make great parents to their little boy, and everyone is thrilled to meet him...if he will ever come out to join us!

Coming Soon...and festive invitation for a Stock the Bar Shower - Fiesta style!

Around the House Shower Pics.

This turned out to be a great party - perfect weather, perfect food, perfect couple. The food was AMAZING. My parent's friends are great cooks! We had ham and Sirloin Tip Roast with Horseradish Sauce for little sandwiches, potato salad, cole slaw, 7-layer dip, fruit, chicken ball, relish plate and a Marinated Cheese Platter - which I am working on getting the recipe for - it was delish! All the food was inside, while the party was outside. Dad brings his Jimmy Buffet Margarita Machine everywhere.

The completed dessert table...

We had vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream. The strawberry went first, surprisingly. M&M's, Heath bar, Reese's Pieces, sprinkles, Oreo, nuts, cherries, chocolate and caramel were our toppings. We did Twix and Cupcakes as well - the bride's favorite. The cupcakes turned out so great. I got the black and white mini cupcake liners from Cupcake Social online through Artfire.com. I had leftover white cake mix and bought pink sprinkles. Mom and I iced the cupcakes just before the shower.

After socializing, dinner and dessert, we opened gifts. this I thought was hysterical!

They walked away with some great stuff! Including an ice cream maker, ice cream bowls...you see the trend? It is a well know fact that my brother loves the stuff.
